Owlthorpe Wild Orchard

(No 11 on the Map)

Standing Aprox: 361ft above sea level GPS Co-0rdinates 53.33667,-1.37823

The above photo shows how steep Ecological Owlthorpe is, facing east towards Beighton in the far distant valley below toward the horizon.

Owlthorpe Wild Orchard was created using trees grafted, by local volunteers, with stock from the ancient orchard at Beighton. This provides local birds with a vital food source, nectar for bees and insects. Overtime it has naturally spread and matured to the area around Owlthorpe Surgery.

The land managment took place under the monitoring of Natural England by their Higher Level Stewardship Scheme.
